Rideet One - Installation

How do I install Rideet One?

Rideet One installation is really simple, because you only need to connect it to the battery and to fix it in the bike.
Follow more detailed instructions in the Rideet One User Guide.

Do I need to connect Rideet One to the ECU of my bike?

No. Rideet One is the only device that embeds all the sensors and antennas to gather all the data you need.
It just needs 12V supply, from the battery or from any main 12V cable using the included T-Tap.

Can I move Rideet One from my old bike to my new bike?

Sure. You just have to unlink it from the previous bike first. Check the Rideet One User Guide for instructions. Your subscription is tied to the Rideet One, not to the bike, so after the new installation the expiration date of your subscription will not change.

Can I use Rideet One on more than one bike?

No. Rideet One is designed to be installed and configured on a single bike at a time.
This means that, for multiple motorcycles, you need multiple Rideet One, one for each bike.
Instead, Rideet app allows to manage multiple bikes in a single account: you can switch between them with ease.
Any Rideet One synced with your account will send their data to your account even when the bike is not selected.

I can't complete the installation because it goes in timeout (Error 5004) while trying to contact my Rideet One. How can I solve this?

If you get Error 5004 during the installation, your Rideet One is not answering our servers and the process goes in timeout.
This could happen for several reasons:

  • Rideet One could not boot properly.
This could be due to different reasons, the most important of those is when the box is physically installed before being activated in the app.
To exclude this option and make it boot regularly, try to unplug Rideet One from the battery (or, if you used the T-tap, unplug the male connector from the t-tap mounted on the bike cable) and plug it again. Alternatively, you can remove the fuse and place it back in its holder.
After plugging it, try again within 90 seconds and it will now answer to the server and you'll be able to go ahead with installation.
  • Rideet One could be not properly supplied.
There could be a few reasons: Rideet One could is connected to an auxiliary electric cable (e.g. turn indicators electric line), the T-tap male connector is not properly mounted on a 12V cable of Rideet One, or the hooks are not properly secured to the battery.
To definitely exclude these reasions you should remove the fuse from the fuse box and measure the voltage in there with a tester (use the motorcycle metal frame to get the ground).
If you get 12V in there, it is supplied properly; otherwise, if you get 0, there is some problem with electrical installation (likely one of the three reasons mentioned before).
  • Rideet One could be in an area without 2G coverage.
Move to open air and try again.
  • Rideet One is not waking up with remote requests.
Try moving the bike or tapping Rideet One with a finger to wake it up. Check if Rideet One woke up by tapping the Connectivity button in the Dashboard (the "Last Contact" field should then be updated with current time. It may take some seconds.).
If the Last Contact updates, it means Rideet One has coverage and can now avoid error 5004. Try again within 90 seconds.
  • If none of the previous worked, contact us at support@rideet.com (be sure to write your serial number).

Rideet One - Activation

How do I activate my Rideet One? New

Follow the instructions in the Rideet One User Guide to activate your Rideet One.

Rideet One - Usage

Can I use Rideet One when I'm away from my bike?

Sure! The Rideet One in your bike is always connected to the cloud, so on your smartphone you will always find the most updated data, wherever you are.

Is the Rideet app needed to properly use Rideet One?

Yes. The Rideet app is used for activation and to receive any data from Rideet One (except Accidents Recongnition System SMS, which are standard SMS - but you need the app to configure the emergency numbers).

Do I need to bring my smartphone with me when I ride?

No. Rideet One is completely independent. It has network connection and embedded satellite positioning system. Data is automatically sent to your cloud account. You can go out for a ride, get back home and see your ride on your smartphone right after you park; at the same time, accidents recognition system is always active in the infortunate case of an accident when your smartphone is not with you.

Will Rideet One drain my motorcycle battery?

Absolutely not. This is a critical point for all of us riders, and we know how important it is to keep idle power consumption as low as possible.
Rideet One idle power consumption is less than 5 mA.
In addition, Underground Parking mode and Ultra Low Power mode are available to further redure idle power consumption.

I receive Error 2001 when trying to download performance data or to update the firmware. What can I do? Updated

Error 2001 shows up when Rideet One is not able to find the Rideet Key.
Try this process to fix this:

  • If the Key was not there, place the Rideet Key near the bike and try again.
  • If the Key was there, do the following:
    • First, check if the Key is turned ON by pressing the Key button. When the Key is ON and you press the button, the LED blinks 2 times.
      • To turn ON the Key - 5 seconds Long Press when the Key is OFF
(The LED will turn on for about 3 seconds)
      • To turn OFF the Key - 5 seconds Long Press when the Key is ON
(The LED will blink for 5 times)
    • In Settings > Rideet One > Security, set "Key Distance" as Far
    • In Settings > Rideet One > General > Rideet Key, check that the Key is listed
    • Try again
  • If it is still not working, try replacing the CR2032 battery and try again. When at very low battery, the LED on the Key still blinks but the Key could miss commands.

Rideet TPMS - General

Can I use Rideet TPMS with my bike?

Yes. Rideet TPMS are universal and they work on any motorcycle tyre. Be sure to have enough space on the valves in order to mount the caps. Rideet TPMS size is 24mm x 19mm (height) and total weight is 10g (battery included).

What info can I get with Rideet TPMS?

Rideet TPMS measures pressure and temperature of your tyres. It can also alert in case of a quick drop of pressure or if pressure and temperature go over or below a certain treshold chosen by you in the Rideet app.

Can I mount only one Rideet TPMS valve cap?

Yes, you can mount a single unit.

What's the expected battery life for Rideet TPMS?

Rideet TPMS are powered by one CR1632 battery each. Expected battery life for standard usage can reach 2 years.

Rideet TPMS - Installation

Is there any requirement to install Rideet TPMS?

There are few requirements for a clean Rideet TPMS installation:

  • Be sure that the valve thread is at least 7-8mm long (before mounting the TPMS). This is required to have enough space to screw TPMS properly.
In case of shorter valve threads, the antitheft nuts can also be not mounted in order to recover some space for screwing.
  • Be sure that Rideet TPMS is intact and doesn't have any collision with moving or fixed parts in the wheel.
There should be enough clearance (few millimiters) from other components (e.g. brake pads) to allow the wheel to rotate freely without damaging the Rideet TPMS.
  • Be sure that Rideet TPMS is properly screwed. You don't need to tighten it too much using mechanical tools on the TPMS itself. If you are using the wrench on the antitheft nuts, ensure that by thightening them too much you dont't partially unscrew the TPMS.

Can I use Rideet TPMS on my metal valves?

Yes. You can install and use Rideet TPMS on metal valves, even if L-shaped.
In case of L-shaped metal valve please be sure that there is enough space to screw Rideet TPMS. You must always be sure that Rideet TPMS is properly aligned with the valve. In the case of L shaped metal valves, sometimes there is not enough space to screw the TPMS and, if forced, they can be screwed to the valve thread, being disaligned.

Can I use Rideet TPMS on my rubber valves?

Yes. You can install and use Rideet TPMS on rubber valves, since the total weight of each Rideet TPMS (battery included) is only 10g.
Be sure that your rubber valve is in good shape and health. This is very important to avoid potential breaks during riding.

Can I use Rideet TPMS on my tyre if I applied gas-filled puncture sealant?

In some occasions, Rideet TPMS could not work properly if gas-filled puncture sealant is used.

Rideet TPMS - Usage

I just mounted my Rideet TPMS. How can I see the measures?

You can see pressure and temperature in the Rideet app, in the Rideet TPMS card.

Remember that Rideet TPMS will send the tyre pressure in the following instances:

  • Within one minute after the sensor battery is installed.
  • When riding speed is over 10km/h for 15s, then every few minutes until the bike stops.
  • When, while riding or while parked, the tyre pressure changes instantaneously of a significant amount (e.g. flat tyre).
In every other situation, Rideet TPMS will enter sleep state to save its battery. When Rideet TPMS is in sleep state, it wonʼt send any data.
You can simulate a pressure drop by unscrewing and screwing again the sensor on the tyre valve, in order to get an instant measure before riding.
If Rideet One is installed in your bike, any data sent by Rideet TPMS will be also received by the box and automatically sent to the cloud.
If you don't own a Rideet One, your smartphone (properly set up) must be in proximity of the TPMS during the measures.

I'm not receiving any measure. Why?

First of all, ensure that your smartphone is in proximity of the TPMS.

To receive measures and notifications, the Rideet app must be:

    1) open and with screen on
or

    2) open in background, but you must grant it permission to work in background in your smartphone settings.
It's also required to grant Rideet app permission to access your position while in background (important: setting must be "Always"). Unfortunately this is a system requirement needed to get the measures directly from the sensors. No position will ever be saved. Check also that the app can send notifications according to the phone system settings.
There is also the chance that the internal battery is empty. If the previous didn't work, try to replace the battery.

I'm receiving measures, but no notifications. Why?

Updated measures are shown in the Rideet TPMS card in the "My bike status" carousel (there's the date and hour below the value).
The product is working as intended: notifications are sent only when the value is outside of the acceptable range (set in Settings > Rideet TPMS) or when a significant drop of pressure occurs.

I have also a Rideet One. Why I'm not receiving my measures?

To get measures trough your Rideet One, please be sure that Rideet One and Rideet TPMS are linked to the same bike in the Rideet app.
The measurement logic of Rideet TPMS doesn't change when it is paired with a Rideet One. Rideet TPMS will send measures with the same logic it uses when used standalone: when a new battery is installed, during a riding session or in case of immediate pressure drop.
If Rideet One is offline or in sleep mode, it will be able to receive only measures related to immediate pressure drop (it could take some minutes).

After my ride, I'm still not receiving any measure. How can I fix this?

If the previous instructions didn't work, try this.
If the app permissions are set properly, try to unmount the valve cap from the tyre valve, open it and remove the battery.
Then, replace it (if it's empty) and/or install the battery again.
You should get the measure of environment pressure within one minute. After you get it, mount the valve caps again on the tyre valve.
